Golden Week is one of the most popular times to travel in Japan. And while this may sound great for a second, what it actually means is crowds, sky-high prices for hotels, and even more crowds.
Golden Week 2026 This year’s official Golden Week holidays extend from Apr. 29 to May 6. While May 2-3 are also official holidays, they fall on the weekend. Expect travel crowds to peak on the evening of Monday, May 5 and the morning of Wednesday, May 6.
