Donguri Kyowakoku offers a 'Kiki's Delivery Service' shimekazari wreath, blending anime charm with traditional Japanese New Year's decorations. These wreaths ward off evil spirits and bring good fortune, perfect for adding a touch of Ghibli magic to your home.
Studio Ghibli's Donguri Kyowakoku shop has created a unique Kiki's Delivery Service shimekazari wreath, a delightful twist on traditional Japanese New Year decorations. These wreaths, featuring Kiki's black cat Jiji, are designed to ward off evil spirits and bring good fortune for the coming year.
Shimekazari are smaller versions of shimenawa ropes found at Shinto shrines, acting as barriers against misfortune. This 'western-style decoration' can be hung at home entrances or inside, offering secular wishes of good fortune and festive cheer during the holiday season.
The Kiki wreath, priced at 6,050 yen (US$40), is available online. It combines metal, resin, artificial and dried flowers, and natural straw for a unique appearance, measuring 28 centimeters (11 inches) in length.
