Takara Tomy is re-releasing a plus-sized plushie based on Pikachu's original, chunkier design to celebrate Pokémon's 30th anniversary. This nostalgic collectible brings back the beloved character's retro look.
Pokémon fans visiting Japan can celebrate the franchise's 30th anniversary with a special throwback: the return of the original, chunkier Pikachu design as a plushie. This is a recreation of the original life-size Pikachu plushies that went on sale in 1997.
Takara Tomy's new "Welcome Back Pikachu" plushie revives the endearing, heavier-set version of Pikachu from the early Game Boy games and card illustrations. Standing at 40 centimeters tall, this plushie offers a nostalgic nod to the franchise's roots.
The Pokémon 30th Anniversary Welcome Back Pikachu is priced at 7,480 yen (US$48) and will be available for order through the Takara Tomy Mall online shop, with an official on-sale date of February 28.
